Bhadrak, Sept. 29 (UDN): A young man died after accidentally falling into an uncovered drain on the premises of the Salandi Canal Division Office in Bhadrak district on Tuesday.
The deceased was identified as Akshaya Pradhan, a resident of Salandi Colony.
According to preliminary reports, Pradhan had entered the office premises near the Bypass area under Bhadrak Rural police station to pluck leaves from a drumstick tree when he reportedly lost his balance and fell into the open drain.
The incident sparked concern among local residents, who alleged that the lack of a proper cover over the drain contributed to the accident.
Fire Services Recover Body
Following the incident, Bhadrak Fire Service personnel reached the spot and launched a rescue operation.
The body was subsequently recovered from the drain and handed over to the authorities.
Police have initiated an investigation to establish the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
