Bhubaneswar, Sept 22 [UDN}:The Panchayati Raj and Drinking Water Department of the Odisha Government held its weekly review meeting through virtual mode under the chairmanship of the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department.
The meeting was attended by CDO-cum-EOs of Zilla Parishads and Block Development Officers (BDOs) from all districts of the state. The Director (Special Projects), Special Secretary and senior departmental officials also participated in the meeting and reviewed the progress of various schemes and programmes.
The meeting focused on several key areas, including post-flood restoration, PMAY-G, PM-JANMAN, AGJ, BGBO, ‘Gram Sampada’, ‘Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam’, and the progress of GPDP, BPDP and DPDP.
Special emphasis was placed on the early completion of incomplete houses under housing schemes, release of pending instalments to beneficiaries, restoration of basic infrastructure in flood-affected areas, ensuring safe drinking water supply, and timely uploading of development plans at the panchayat level.
The officials also discussed measures for organising a special Gram Sabha on October 2 as part of the initiative for a ‘Child Labour-Free Odisha’.
Preparations for the upcoming Panchayat elections were also reviewed. Officials were directed to ensure that polling stations have the required basic facilities and that all necessary preparations are completed in a timely manner.
The weekly review meeting underlined the department’s focus on timely implementation of rural development schemes, post-disaster restoration, basic public services and strengthening grassroots-level planning and administration.
