Bhubaneswar, Sept 22 [UDN}:The Commissionerate Police has announced traffic restrictions in and around the Odisha Legislative Assembly in Bhubaneswar in view of the upcoming session of the 17th Odisha Legislative Assembly. The seventh session of the current Assembly is scheduled to begin on September 22, 2026, and will continue until October 3, 2026.
The restrictions have been introduced to ensure smooth movement of vehicles and maintain public safety in the vicinity of the Assembly during the session. Commuters travelling through roads close to the Assembly complex may experience diversions and are advised to plan their journeys accordingly.
According to the traffic arrangements, vehicles approaching Rabindra Mandap from the Housing Board Square side will not be allowed to proceed along the usual route near the Assembly area. Such vehicles will have to take the left-side road at Keshari Talkies and continue towards their respective destinations through the designated alternative route.
The Commissionerate Police has advised motorists to remain alert and follow traffic personnel and diversion signs while travelling through the affected areas. Commuters who do not have any specific reason to travel through the Assembly-adjacent roads during the session have also been advised to use alternative routes wherever possible.
The traffic measures will remain in force during the Assembly session period, from September 22 to October 3, and are aimed at reducing congestion while ensuring the safe movement of legislators, officials, security personnel and the general public.
Motorists are requested to cooperate with the traffic authorities and follow the prescribed diversions to avoid unnecessary delays and congestion in central Bhubaneswar.
