Bhubaneswar, Aug 22 [UDN}:Floodwater levels have risen at the Hirakud Reservoir, prompting the authorities to increase the discharge of excess water. At present, floodwater is being released from the reservoir through a total of 17 sluice gates. The continued rise in the inflow has led to the opening of additional gates to regulate the water level and ensure the safe and controlled release of the excess water downstream. The situation is being closely monitored by the authorities, with necessary measures being taken to manage the increasing inflow and maintain the safety of downstream areas.
