District Skill Development Mission Meeting in Nabarangpur Prioritizes Youth Training

Nabarangpur: A meeting of the District Skill Development Mission and District Skill Committee was held at the local Mission Shakti Conference Hall under the chairmanship of Additional District Magistrate (Revenue) Bishwajit Barman. The meeting was attended by Development Officer Biranchi Narayan Darwan, CDO, DWO, CDVO, DFO, DIPRO, ORMAS officials, heads of ITI and Polytechnic institutions, and representatives from training providers Gayatri Educational & Charitable Trust and Oryx Foundation.

The District Employment & Skill Development Officer, Anand Chandra Palei, provided details on various training programs and initiatives taken in the previous financial year. The meeting emphasized the need for proper training, motivational counseling, and career guidance to ensure long-term employment for young men and women in the district.

A presentation using LED screens covered topics such as Nano Unicorn Assessment, PLTP, PM Internship, Nu Odisha 4.0 Skilling Program, nursing job opportunities in Japan, training at the World Skill Center, and job drives. It was reported that 161 youths had secured employment between November and February 2025.

The Gayatri Educational & Charitable Trust is conducting LED Technical Training at Umerkote Jail, while Solar Panel and Mobile Hardware Repair Training is being provided at Raighar and Umerkote ITI Centers. Oryx Foundation is also offering training programs.

In an inspiring development, Oliva Dinabandhu, a girl from Nabarangpur, has been selected by Global Flight Handling Services and is currently undergoing training in Chennai. She will soon receive employment in the aviation sector.

Additionally, on March 19, a Job Fair will be held at RCD High School ground, where private companies such as MedPlus, G4 Security, Muthoot Finance, Shriram Finance, Utkarsh Finance, Suraksha Health Insurance, MRL Jewel, and others will participate.

CDO Biranchi Narayan Darwan emphasized the importance of involving PRI (Panchayati Raj Institution) members in the process to ensure maximum youth participation in training and employment opportunities.

Forest Fire Erupts Due to Negligence of Protection Committee, Raising Concerns

Nabarangpur: A fire broke out yesterday in a cashew orchard near Majhiguda village under Podalaguda Panchayat in Nandahandi block of Nabarangpur district. Due to the negligence of the Village Forest Protection Committee, the fire spread from the nearby forest and engulfed the cashew trees on the farmland of Kailash Dora, a poor farmer from the village. said that over 180 cashew trees were completely burnt.

The cashew saplings had been planted on Kailash Dora’s land with support from the Nabarangpur Horticulture Department. However, he had not received any wages for the plantation work, nor any compensation from the government for the loss of his cashew trees. Despite the fire destroying his entire plantation, no insurance amount has been provided.

Left with no other option, the poor farming family has lodged a written complaint at the Nabarangpur Sadar police station against the Village Committee. The villagers have demanded a thorough investigation into the matter and strict action against those responsible.

Man Critically Injured in Bear Attack in Raighar: Locals Urged to Stay Vigilant

Nabarangpur A 45-year-old man was critically injured in a bear attack in Raighar block. The incident took place near the forest when Nagar Singh Gand, a resident of Chanabhari village in Nakotisimda Panchayat, was on his way to Pulpara village, where his sister lives.

Suddenly, three bears appeared and attacked him. As a result, he sustained severe injuries to his legs and thighs, causing heavy bleeding. After the attack, the bears retreated into the Hatigaon forest. Despite being severely wounded, Nagar Singh Gand managed to reach Hatigaon on his bicycle. The local villagers then took him to Raighar Medical Center, where he received primary medical treatment.

Watershed Festival in Raighar: A Rally for Water Conservation and Sustainable Development

Nabarangpur An awareness rally was organized at Nuaparatha in Raighar under the Watershed Project. The event was attended by local Block Chairman Guptaprasad Jhankar, MP Representative Pritisnigdha Mahapatra, District Council Vice-Chairperson Lipika Baroi, and BDO Bijay Kumar Sethy, who were present on the main stage.

This program, organized by the Government of India, included the inauguration of an awareness chariot. On this occasion, people were educated about watersheds, preventing soil erosion, and conserving rainwater. The rally aimed to spread awareness about how to protect the environment for future generations.

The event saw the presence of District Project Director Chakradhar Mishra, Additional Project Director Pramod Kumar Behera, Local Project Coordinator Pratik Kumar De, and SC & ST Welfare Officer Surendranath Tudu, among others.
